OK, I am going to try a few photos. On my hello post, I mentioned that I had some cocobolo from 22" logs. here are a few photos.



Here are two of the logs in the back of my pickup. Yes, the mudflaps are dragging in the snow since each log weighs over 700 pounds. These are salvage old growth logs with the sapwood all rotted off. Notice that these logs are rather square. Made for good yield.



Here is one log going through the bandsaw mill being split down the center. The sawdust on the snow looked like fresh cut meat.



We cut these logs into 3" thick back billets. Here are a few fresh cut ones leaning against my truck.



Here is the whole stack back home. This was about a year ago. The stuff on the lower right with sapwood is some other coco logs.

I will put a few more cocobolo photos in another post.

Here are a few more cocobolo photos from my "stash"



Here are a variety of billets showing a range of quality and figure.



Here is a pallet of fully quartersawn back and side billets. Yes, that is frost - these arrived last December when the temperature was minus 20 F



This is the same wood after I got it home, thawed out and stacked.



Here is the end of a few of the back billets showing the quartersawing and grain spacing.



Ditto on some of the side billets. These were all a fat 1" thick and many were consecutive cuts.



OK, here is probably the most awesome cocobolo log that I have yet aquired. This was 12" thick and the two center 3" thick slabs looked like this on both faces. The outside slabs are not half bad either. I have not yet mustered the nerve to resaw this. Definitely calls for a new blade, but any screwups are going to be costly.

Well, this is a sampling of my cocobolo stash. I keep getting more in. Hope you enjoyed the view.

OK Grant .. that is some AWESOME looking CB .. what I want to know is - is this all just teasing all of us wood hounds, or will some of this be up for grabs at some point ??? I know you build but thats an awful lot of wood for just one man !!!! Did I mention I LOVE cocobolo ...

My wife just looked over my shoulder and said ' that kind of teasing is uncalled for ' !!!!!

Yes, all of my wood is available for sale. I do not have any of this on a web site and I have not sold on E-Bay for a couple of years. I am sort of part time off and on on selling since I have lots of other things that can sometimes get me pretty busy.

Besides the cocobolo, I have at least a small to moderate supply of most everything (no Brazilian or EIR) and a couple of dozen that you probably have not even heard of. You can give me a yell at ggoltz@aol.com and I can get you some info or e-mail photos.

OK, just to get things straight. Guess I inadvertantly got a few folks bent out of shape. Did not mean to do so, sorry. I posted the photos because folks had asked to see some. I did not mention anything about anything being for sale until after a couple of people asked and my reply was just to be polite and not ignore them. I had no idea that this was a problem, since I have no idea how things work here.

I will get things right. Please do not judge me by my ignorance - we all have a bit of that somewhere

Jimmy, Nice looking guitar    Yes, the wood looks very similar. The wood in my photo is just bare, dry wood, so I don't know how it will look under a finish.

Beautiful wood, Grant. Thanks for the pics and keep showing us the stuff as it progresses.

You and the other wood prospectors on the forum provide a great opportunity for us to see how the materials for our efforts get it all started. Without your tempting photos we might have more money in our pockets and our kids' college funds

I only hope we can get first dibs on the coco before you list it on Ebay!

For now, I need to take some of the same meds that Tony is on just to keep my wood lust under control!
